PayPal Sandbox - Some Issues

[rant] I already talked about this with the new PayPal development environment. Although it looks great, there are a few serious issues that make it an awkward release for PayPal [/ rant]

Main issue: test funds 0 USD, no matter what I do

I tried the following:

  • Delete personal test account and recreate
  • Adding financing from a "bank account" (but I have to confirm my identity with SSN / TaxID, which I do not know)
  • Adding a fake credit card (41111111111111111 is already in use, dummy card numbers are actually confirmed and will not work).

Other questions / complaints:

No need to log into a real PayPal account in QA, verification workflow

My client can create their own test account and use it, but then I will have to change the work email for the verification workflow. We cannot test at the same time if one of us does not have access to another real PayPal account. This change was a good idea in theory, but implementation does not yet exist.

Serious cookie issues

It’s bad that the Exit function ( https://developer.paypal.com/cgi-bin/devscr?cmd=_logout ) gives error 503. We literally have to constantly clear cookies to exclude that there is any error not caused by cookies.

Unable to log in to sandbox from developer test account page

There is a small supporting link that talks about the "Sandbox" in each test account. You would think that clicking on it will lead you to the sandbox with this account. No.

WTF, PayPal

I had various problems (other than those listed here) since the new developer site was launched earlier this month. I have never seen an official recognition of problems with PayPal. A small status message "Hey, we are working on it!" will give me what I need to explain my delays to clients.

I really like the new interface. I would love it even more if it worked.

Main issue: test funds 0 USD, no matter what I do

We are currently working on a fix. I will have more information to share this question later today. I will definitely update my answer as soon as I have an update. At this point, you will experience intermittent success in creating new accounts. As a workaround, you can log into one of your test accounts and manually add funds from your bank account. After you initiate the transfer, go to the details of this transaction and clear the pending transfer. This will allow you to add funds to your account.

Update. Now this problem should be solved.

No need to log into a real PayPal account in QA, verification workflow

We understand that it’s difficult for you to log in using PayPal using an active PayPal account. However, this eliminates the need to maintain two separate accounts for PayPal.com and developer.paypal.com. I will definitely share this feedback with our Sandbox team.

Serious cookie issues

We are working on resolving log issues that cause these errors. I will definitely clarify this question as soon as I have additional information about fixing this problem. As you mentioned, a workaround is to clear your cache and cookies, or try a different web browser.

Update: this issue should also be resolved. Please let me know if you have problems logging in.

Unable to log in to sandbox from developer test account page

This is a great feedback. I will share this with our Sandbox team to find out if we can solve this problem in a future version.

Error clicking on profile page in sandbox

This was a known issue, and a solution to this problem was fixed yesterday. You should no longer receive errors when trying to access the profile page in an isolated account.

Thanks,
