ExecJS :: RuntimeUnavailable Error When Starting Rails Server

I created a new Rails application. When I try to start the server, I get the following error:

How can I fix this error?

Try

 sudo gem install therubyracer

or

 gem install therubyracer

Hope this helps

If you just created a new application, this may occur when a gem therubyracer comment is commented on. This is necessary to compile your assets. You can uncomment this or install something like nodejs so you don't need to use the gem in all of your projects.

brew install nodejs # or sudo apt-get install nodejs

The most popular version of JavaScript is therubyracer , which is a gem. As @muttonlamb said, install it:

 gem install therubyracer

Then, as stated in the Bathakarai description , add the following line to your Gemfile at the bottom of the file:

 gem 'therubyracer'

Now run rails server again and everything should work.

To simplify the process, you can run a script to create the application and automatically add JS runtime.
