Combine K2 component data source for multiple Joomla! sites hosted on a single server

I am responsible for several websites of my organization.

I am using Joomla! 2.5.9 for these websites. All of them work on one server.

I use the K2 component for content management.

I have a shared website that displays all the staff information on the Staff page. Also, some of these people and their contents are shown on another site of the department. Thus, there is a database for each website.

For instance:

On a general website (say, general.org), when I click on the "Personnel" menu item, the page displays all the people who work in my organization. They also work in different departments.

On another website (for example: education.general.org), when I click on the "Personnel" menu item, it shows that people work in the education department.

But for each website I have different user accounts, which means that a change in one of them does not affect the other. If one of the education staff tries to change his profile picture on the education website, he must also do so on the general website.

And sometimes one person can work in two departments. Thus, he must edit his data three times.

Can I merge entries for all websites? In other words, I want everyone to insert / update their data on a common website, and other websites to be automatically updated.

To do this, you will need one Joomla site. Subdomains will have their own template / style or something else, but will work on the same Joomla installation. Subdomains are then simply mapped to a specific menu item on the shared page. That would be one way to do this.

Another way could be to encode a custom plugin that updates tables from other Joomla installations after editing a profile. If you are familiar with PHP, you may do it yourself, otherwise you will need someone with coding knowledge to do this for you.

Or you can configure Joomla to use LDAP database authentication ( http://docs.joomla.org/LDAP ). However, I'm not sure how well it works with password and profile changes.

As for the solutions that I will see.
