I cannot figure out how to choose between ftplib and urllib2 to upload a file via FTP. As far as I can tell, they work well, and most of the recommendations seem to suggest one thing or another without listing the pros and cons. In addition, there are other libraries.
How do I choose at all? It’s not just a matter of finding something that works, I have done it differently already. I am wondering what is the right choice. My main idea is to use ftplib , as this is, after all, the ftp server ...
In my particular case, I am dealing with very large files (several gb) on public servers. I would like a progress indicator. Since the files are so large, it would be nice to be able to renew ... but they are optional - just to be nice to the people who will use my code. I do not want to use a library that is already marked for obsolescence.
