What is mysqld.exe?

As soon as my Windows starts, I see mysqld.exe in my task manager, which uses 500 MB of memory.

What is mysqld.exe?

(Edit: is it required to use the mysql server on my computer? I mean, why does it start immediately after starting Windows? Did it start the mysql server?)

mysqld.exe is the daemon (service) process for MySQL. If it is, it means that you (or any application that you use) installed it. If you donโ€™t know why it is there, you can try to stop it (find some MySQL daemon in the Windows service manager) and see what stops working ...

This is the Daemon service of the MySQL server (for the completion of D, daemons are usually used, which are the equivalent of Unix Windows services).
