How to get a Wi-Fi hotspot?

I want to write an application so that it can record the location of the Wi-Fi access point we are accessing and display them on a map. But the problem is, how can I get the location of the Wi-Fi hotspot? I think I can use the Wi-Fi signal to get the location of the Wi-Fi access point, but this may not be very accurate for the first time. And if there is no other solution, I could record the GPS location when I first accessed Wi-Fi.

You cannot find the location of the hotspots, and you cannot determine the direction and distance from your current position to the actual access point.

Hot spots do not report their coordinates (my wifi block does not even know its own geographical coordinates). Google captured hotspots during its street browsing missions and used the results to triangulate Wi-Fi hotspot positions, while other companies did the same as creating the databases.

So, to get the information, you will need access to a database that knows the coordinates of the hot spots.

I do not think so. I use iPod touch and Samsung Galaxy Wonder cards as a hot spot. iPod can tell my location! I guess Samsung is stealthily monitoring how Apple makes geo-information communications via wi-fi.
