'org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Log4JLogger' not found.

In my Java web service, I am trying to write logs to a Windows event viewer using log4j. I am using Eclipse as an IDE to deploy it using Tomcat.

this is my log4j.properties:

I think there is a copy of public records in TOMCAT_HOME / lib, so you could potentially run into a conflict on the class path, but I would check the apache puzzle docs to make sure you set it up correctly.

This can be a problem: the class file is present in two jars of your class path.

Class File: org.apache.commons.logging.impl.Log4JLogger

1st Jar: commons-logging-1.1.2.jar

2nd Jar: commons-logging-adapters-1.1.2.jar

Try to remove the second jar and try again.

remove all NTEventLog links and it will work. If you uncomment this application, it may work if the source is a valid name.

Do not forget to place NTEventLogAppender.dll, NTEventLogAppender.amd64.dll, NTEventLogAppender.ia64.dll or NTEventLogAppender.x86.dll, if necessary, in the directory that is located in the PATH of the Windows system. Otherwise, you get java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError.
