Over the past few days, we have had problems with web pages using the Google V3 Map APIs.
Initially, I thought it was one specific page on our website, and spent at least one day trying to find the reason. This morning I discovered that this is any page with a map on our website and just found it on any website with a map.
We use IE8 in Windows XP, the problem is that on the page with the updated map IE8 crashes. If "Enable automatic crash recovery" is enabled in "Internet Properties" / "Advanced", you will get a "balloon" error: This tab is restored. A problem with this web page causes Internet Explorer to close and open the tab.
If "Enable automatic crash recovery" is disabled, the regular "Internet Explorer" has encountered a problem and should close the " " message , but clicking "Debug" just closes IE.
This happens on a simple example page from Google, it will load normally, press F5, and IE will crash. https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/examples/full/map-simple
This only happens in IE8 on Windows XP. IE7 on XP and IE9 on Windows 7 are great, as are Firefox and Chrome.
Can anyone else confirm this, and have any idea how to resolve it?
Thanks Mike
Update: Found that it works fine if XP is running in safe mode using Networking
