How free sms apps like pinger?

I want to create an application whose basic functionality is essentially the same as Pinger and other free SMS applications, i.e. he must allow text messages without going through a telephone service provider, sending data over the Internet. But I cannot find any API or explanation as to how this is done.

Pinger assigns you a phone number, which, I believe, means that it must also run its own SMS gateways. But I do not know how to do this (assign a valid phone number and create SMS gateways), or I can do it myself and purely programmatically. Does anyone know where I can find this information?

TL DR: Essentially, I need to know how to create my own application for pager / free SMS. My application will be different, but will use the same basic functionality.

SMS messages cannot be sent freely, which is why the Pinger business model is based on advertising when sending and receiving messages, see http://www.pinger.com/content/advertise.html

To do this yourself, you will need to work with one of the companies offering an SMS gateway. You can use a whole bunch of different suppliers, take a look at this message that I made with some of them earlier. How to send SMS programmatically professionally and reliably?

I will also add that you will need to develop a suitable business model for paying for the SMS messages you plan to send :-).
