What to do after capturing access credentials from OAuth

Question

I am confused about what to do after I get the Access credentials in the successful OAuth authorization from Twitter.

What I did now displays a popup and returns the Access credentials and has them as a variable in the popup. What should I do now?

Should I transfer the data back to the main window, as described in the answer accepted here: Transferring data between the parent window and the popup of the child using jQuery or is there another way to do this?
