Cannot use database tables after reinstalling wampserver

Question

I just reinstalled WAMPSERVER without backing up the MYSQL data folder under WAMPSERVER, realizing that uninstalling and reinstalling WAMPSERVER will leave the MYSQL data directory intact as it is. This was a reinstallation of the same version of WAMPSERVER.

So, now I enter MYSQL, I see all the databases and tables from the previous WAMPSERVER with SHOW DATABASESand SHOW TABLES IN myDb. But an attempt SHOW COLUMNS IN myTableor further attempt to access the data in these tables fails, indicating an error:

ERROR 1146 (42S02): Table 'myDb.myTable' doesn't exist

and log file:

2013-10-08 14:42:23 1072 [Warning] InnoDB: Cannot open table myDB/myTable from the internal data dictionary of InnoDB though the .frm file for the table exists.
