How can I prevent the package manager console from hanging when cmdlet prompts request information?

Question

I use the NuGet Package Manager console for any command line operations that I need to perform while working in Visual Studio. It works fine, since I do not need to leave VS, but when the cmdlets request additional information (user ID, password, confirmation, etc.), it just hangs, and I need to restart VS.

Do I need to configure the package manager console to behave like a standard Power Shell console for user prompts?
