How to find out if the codec supports hardware acceleration on Android?

Using the Android MediaCodec API, I can get a list of codecs registered in the system.

All I can get from this API is the name, supported media types and whether it be an encoder or decoder.

But how do you know if a codec supports hardware acceleration?

Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC (MSM8917) is installed on my smartphone, and in the MediaCodecInfo application I see two encoding alternatives for the AVC codec (H264):

  • OMX. QCOM .video.encoder.avc
  • OMX. Google .h264.encoder

, / "qcom" (Qualcomm), , Google - , Android, .
