Add a small icon to any file / folder icon in windows using java or other languaga programming

Question

We are developing a small Windows application for synchronizing doc from a specific folder on the server. Therefore, I need a method, for example, in dropbox, to add a small processing / completion icon to the file / folder that is being processed. And if I move this file outside the main folder, this icon should disappear.

Can someone help me with this?
