Get a child Wordpress category from a specific parent

Question

I am creating a small gallery of thumbnails with posts from the category ID 406.

Some of the posts are in several categories, and I'm not sure how to grab a category name that is a child of 406. $post_cat[0]->name;returns a category, but I only need to return it from the number 406.
