What is the difference between a “windows application” and a “form windows application”,

I tried to use a third-party component developed in C # in a VB.NET project. When I tried to add a component to the toolbar, the components were always gray - disabled. After a long search on this issue (for example, one of many: Visual Studio 2010 toolbar elements are disabled or inactive ) I found that the components are probably not included because they were created for a different kind of project. The usual example given is the "web application" and the "Windows application".

I looked at the demo project that came with the components, and the output type of the demo project was "Windows Application." The VB.NET project I'm trying to build with this component is a "Windows Forms application." Since this is VS Express, these are the only types of Windows applications available in two projects.

My question is, what is the difference between these two types of output? Both types of output <OutputType>WinExe</OutputType>in the project file. Can I rebuild components to work in a "Windows Forms application", and if so, how?
