When creating our current GWT project, compilation requires a rather large amount of total time (currently ~ 25 minutes in total, 2/3 gwt compilation). We stated how to optimize this (for example, here ), but in the end we decided to buy a new build server. Compiling GWT is quite an intensive task, so we conducted several tests to analyze the improvement on the core:
- 1 core = 197s
- 2 cores = 165 s
- 3 cores = 149s
- 4 cores = 157 (it may be that the last core was occupied by other tasks)
Judging by these numbers, it seems that adding more cores does not necessarily improve performance, as these numbers seem to be smoothed out.
1). So, now I will be interested if any of you can confirm or deny this? So 8 or 12 cores don't necessarily matter - but does the speed of a single processor (mhz) do?
2). After watching some tests, our sales tend to buy * ntel xeon - any experience with AMD? (I'm more from AMD, but currently it’s hard to ignore tests)
3.) Any other suggestions regarding memory, I / O, etc. welcome
Update: when we receive the new server, I will send the updated numbers ...
