IDEA 12 disable strange XML highlighting

Question

This is what my pom.xml file looks like in IDEA 12.

I hate how the app highlights opening and closing signs < >.

How can I turn it off ?!

Go to Settings (Preferences) | Editor | Colors and Fonts | The XML . On the right side, select "Tag" and check the "Background" box.
