We have used quartz to render pdf files in our applications for more than 2 years and still have not had real problems.
However, one of our customers recently reported that some fonts were not displayed correctly in some of their PDF files.
The problem occurs only in iOS: PDF files are displayed correctly on Mac (using Adobe Reader or even Preview) and PC (with Adobe Reader) .
In addition, we checked the file in Acrobat Pro using Preflight, and the fonts did not disappear.
Here are the error messages we get on Xcode when displaying one of the files:
