A comprehensive virtualenvwrapper primer?

Am I really impressed by the comprehensive question of a virtual virtual beginner forum? . I started reading it because finally I decided to use virtualenv.

But I also found about virtualenvwrapper http://virtualenvwrapper.readthedocs.org/en/latest/ , and as far as I understand, virtualenvwrapper is better.

I read http://blog.fruiapps.com/2012/06/An-introductory-tutorial-to-python-virtualenv-and-virtualenvwrapper and http://doughellmann.com/2008/05/virtualenvwrapper.html , but from starting point i still have questions about virtualenvwrapper:

  • As a newbie who has no experience with virtualenv, should I start using virtualenv first or go directly to virtualenvwrapper?

  • What is the advantage of virtualenvwrapper? As I understand it, this is useful when you have many virtual environments.

  • If I start a project with virtualenv, can I use virtualenvwrapper on it later? Or do I need to convert it to virtualenvwrapper, if so, how do I do the conversion?

  • What is the advantage of Lazy Loading http://virtualenvwrapper.readthedocs.org/en/latest/install.html#lazy-loading ?

Thanks,
