Persistent local storage for Firefox and Chrome?

Look for tips / options for having permanent local storage using both Firefox and Chrome, which allows me to save 50 MB + data. I would save dynamic terrain data for the WebGL game, so the server would not need to send all the data every time the player connects. I could just update the old parts.

I was thinking about using IndexedDB, however Chrome does not allow you to increase the quota (unlike Firefox), so I will not be able to store big data. Chrome allows me to use the FileSystem API, which would solve my problem, but Firefox does not support it.

So it looks like this will not work. Is my only use case for the FileSystem API for Chrome and IndexedDB for Firefox? Anyone have any better ideas?

This information is what I read from the Mozilla Blog and Google Dev Site , but it may be outdated now, so please feel free to correct me. Thanks!

I agree with other comments about caching and the Chrome / Firefox markets, and they may ultimately be the best solutions for you. However, to answer your original question ...
