Handling Spotify Metadata on Android

Early versions of spotify the broadcast event metadatachangedevery time a track was launched, as discussed here . However, since one of the latest updates does not send metadatachangedbroadcasts for each track. Instead, it passes metadatachangedfor a playlist or when changing a queue.

What is the correct way to detect the song Spotify is currently playing on an Android device?

I know that this answer is rather late, but I just wanted to note that the current versions of the Spotify Android client should broadcast metadatachangedat the expected time.
