How can I make the navigation box not completely cover the left box?

Question

I have an Activity that its root element is DrawerLayout, DrawerLayout has a child ListView that acts as the left view of the box layout.

The question arises:

How can I force close the left box list window?
I want his closed state to be as in the photo below

I am currently using the Android manual to create a navigation box .
I am open to any other library - like a Rolling Menu - if that accomplishes my goal.
