After testing Google’s tips on Android and installing HAXM, I got repeated blue screens (BSODs) on my Windows 8.1.
Is there a way to prevent this failure?
After a quick investigation, I did not find the entry in stackoverflow, but I found the following thread in the Intel Developer Zone thread:

It seems that the same error occurred on OS X 10.9 and was caused by GDT. Following this bug report, Intel provided a hot fix (HAXM version 1.0.7):
