Android color depth

Question

I just showed a bitmap on a Samsung 10.2 galaxy. The image was created in Photoshop, showing some subtle change from light red to slightly dark red, it looked perfect on my PC, but the rendering on the tablet showed several ranges .

I know that this may be caused by insufficient color depth ... but I don’t know which Android device has color depth. Does android determine the minimum color depth? Is color depth something you can request more or less at runtime? Does it depend only on the device manufacturer?
