How to interpret pending back arrow in SmartGit Git log?

I'm having problems with git merging.

Instead of asking a question about the problems I am facing, I would like to ask a question about how to interpret arrow / branch histories when viewing a Git log using the "log" command in SmartGit.

Here are two screenshots of SmartGit magazine.

The first is understandable to me, but I turn it on so that people reading this question see the context of the branches. This shows the current end of the branches:

I do not understand what is meant by the complex arrows in the screenshot above.

  • The thin red and blue arrows represent a merger that has not yet been completed. I understand it.
