Search field appears as numeric values instead of text in an Access report

I am trying to create a report that will have a field under the name contactthat has the name of the person. This name is directly linked to another table where I save all contacts.

For some strange reason, when I include this name (which appears in the query view as a contact name), a unique identification number appears in my report instead of the name.

As mentioned in the article in the comment above, you can use the Combo Box control in your report to perform a search for you. To learn how to do this, create a new report based on the table containing the search field, and then drag this field into the report. This will create a Combo Box control with properties that look something like this:

Row source: SELECT [Clients].[ID], [Clients].[LastName] FROM Clients;
Linked column: 1
Number of columns: 2
Column widths:0";1"

You can use a similar Combo Box control in your actual report to display the customer’s name rather than its numeric ID value.

Control Source Text Box , DLookUp() . [client], Control Source -

=DLookUp("LastName","Clients","ID=" & [client])
