Using CTS in Android Source Code

I checked the test case for Android for Android on a special board. AOSP had its own cts / folder under android / folder. I have two questions.

What is the use / role of cts / in creating and blinking android on board?

Why do we download CTS from the site to run cts test cases instead of using the cts source code?

For your first question, CTS does not play any role in the blinking android on the device. It is included in the assembly when repo synchronization, so it remains synchronized with your version of Android.
