Joomla - Alternate Blog Category Layout Not Applicable

Question

So, I'm a little confused by overriding the alternative Joomla layout.

I am using Joomla 3.3

I have read all the Joomla 3.x documentation and have been following many tutorials with no particular problems.

So here are my template files:

Promo is the name of an alternate layout that I would like to activate for one of my categories.

Thus, it looks like an alternative layout without any problems.

Then I went ahead and made a menu item:

However, when I go to the page, it only causes an override blog.php, not promo.phplayout

What am I doing wrong here?

promo.xml? , promo.php. promo.xml blog.xml, public_html/components/com_content/views/category/tmpl. :

<layout title="COM_CONTENT_CATEGORY_VIEW_BLOG_TITLE" option="COM_CONTENT_CATEGORY_VIEW_BLOG_OPTION">

<layout title="promo" option="promo">
