What is the impact of having multiple domain names for a site, do they have SEO ratings?

I searched, but really did not find anything clear on this issue from what I have read so far, what effect does your domain name have on several tlds (for example, mycompany.com and mycompany.fr and mycompany.es) on your ratings ?? They tell me that they point to the same content, they are likely to make the site knock down Google.

Google doesn’t have a domain detected by the detector according to Matt Cutt, so if the domain names just point to one location, it won’t hurt you.
