Can the extraction method adversely affect code performance?

Suppose you have a rather long method with approximately 200 lines of very time sensitive code . Is it possible that extracting some pieces of code to separate methods will slow down execution?

Most likely, you will get acceleration. The problem is that optimizing a 200-bit beast is complicated. In fact, Hotspot gives this when the method is too long. Once I have reached an acceleration factor of 2, just dividing the long method.
