Zlib.output_compression and output_buffering

Question

Can I compress the output by setting the directive zlib.output_compressionto on, and then setting the directive output_bufferingto off?

Secondly, I read that I can set a numerical value in a directive zlib.output_compressionthat sets a specific buffer size. But what if I also set the directive output_bufferingto a different numerical value of bytes? What will be the maximum buffer size?

• Yes, you can compress PHP output this way, but web servers (nginx, Apache) can make this compression more effective for all types of content (css assets, etc.), and not just PHP output :)
