Mule - Routing through the HTTPS endpoint failed

I have a stream with an incoming HTTPS request / response that accepts an XML data message (port 8081). I process the data, and then I want to perform another HTTPS entry through 443 to a different URL so that the data is processed by an external process (PeopleSoft IB).

The problem is that when I try to send an HTTPS: 443 message coming from HTTPS: 8081 inbox, I get the error message below.

BUT , if I have an incoming connector installed as HTTP, not HTTPS, and comment out https: connector name = "httpsConnector" I have a setting, everything works fine, and I can send messages to the HTTPS / 443 Endpoint.

I searched high and low and tried many different things to try to get around this error, but all attempts have so far failed. I know this has something to do with the payload as MuleSoft refuses it and never goes to the HTTPS endpoint. I confirmed this by changing the payload to plain text, and it was sent successfully. It also sends successfully, as I noticed above when I receive incoming HTTP from 8081.

I am a MuleSoft neophyte, so if this is a simple fix, please excuse my ignorance.
