The difference between the initial content block and the viewport

Is there a difference between them or are they the same? I think they refer to the same thing, but in different contexts, but I'm not sure, so I ask here.

The original containing block and viewing area, being connected to each other, are two different concepts.

The viewport usually refers to the viewport of the browser window in which the page is displayed on the screen. The original containing block is the logical area inside the page in which the root element and everything else is displayed.
