Download the EBS volume from the Bamboo instance

I have a resilient instance that I configured from Bamboo to get started with Amazon AWS EC2. I created a volume from a snapshot that contains an OS (Windows Server 2008 R2) with various installed programs.

I can configure Bamboo to make the volume available as an additional drive using these instructions , but I would like to download this volume. I think this is like creating an EBS root volume from AWS , but I'm not sure how to do it from Bamboo.

How to load a volume on Bamboo, and not mount it as an additional disk?

Edit: I found a way to get mount volumes automatically, which is a little closer, but it would still be ideal to actually boot a disk. Here is the closest setting I see:

You cannot load EBS, Bamboo, or Bamboo volumes. You can only upload AMI images.

If you want to convert this volume to an AMI image:

  • Take a snapshot (go to AWS Console, EC2, EBS Volumes, right click → "Create Snapshot")
  • Create AMI (go to EBS snapshots, right click → Create Image)

AMI, " → AMI".
