Signature Windows Phone 8.1

We are working on a universal application developed with Apache Cordova 3.6. We want to distribute it through HockeyApp for our beta testers, and therefore we need to sign it.

For Windows 8 / 8.1 Store applications, this is not a problem because you can install the certificate for signing in the project file. But is there an equivalent for Windows Phone 8.1 (installing a certificate somewhere) or do we need to sign the application using the tools that come with the Windows Phone 8.1 SDK?
