Here is information on how to get started . You do not need to enter a password to enter. If you really want to, first connect via SSH keys, and then use root privileges to change the password for the account the way you want.
You have several different options, I will just tell a few. To get into your GCE instance, you will need SSH key settings, and your client (Putty) is configured to use them.
First option: SSH directly from the browser . That way, you can skip the setup, but it's probably best to set up your Putty correctly.
