Failed to send mail via mandrill in rails application deployed in google compute engine

Question

I have a rails application deployed to the Google Compute Engine. Everything works fine and requires sending mail to the application, so I follow this link to send mail, it works on the local one, but I can not send mail through mandrill smtp.

I always get the error Timeout :: Error (expire) , which may be the reason

Any idea on what might be the problem?
