How to abort tramp from reading a large file

Some time ago I opened a file through tramp. That is, effectively through ssh / scp. This is not finished yet, and I would like to stop reading. Still C-gnot working. Besides killing emacs (which is completely unethical for me, it also destroys my Mx s shell), do I have any other way to stop the download?

Please note that the server does not freeze. And I do not want any timeouts as in this question .

If you can find the appropriate process id ssh/ scp, you can kill just that.
