Convert XNA + VB.Net game to MonoGame

I am writing a strategy game in XNA and VB.NET. This combination of technologies seemed like a pretty good choice until I decided that I wanted to switch to MonoGame (but keep my game logic in VB.Net unchanged).

The problem is that MonoGame does not currently support VB.Net. I did some research, and it seems that I have basically two options:

  • Rewrite my code in C #
  • Write a small C # shell around MonoGame and turn your game logic code into a library

Needless to say, both of these options suck. Did I miss another option here? I do not mind making significant efforts to get this thing to work in MonoGame, but rewriting is simply not an option.

My results so far:

While browsing the web I came across a MonoGame template for VB.Net . Although it looked exactly what I needed, it crashed to loading even after starting a simple new project. Then I went to the Google bug, but it didn't disappear.

To explain my choice of technology (because someone will ask):

Why XNA? I used it before, I am familiar with it, and although it is out of date, it is great for my needs and should work a couple more years.

Why VB.Net? I have vast experience with it, and I prefer its syntax over C #. This is important to me, as I write a fairly large-scale strategy game and keep the code clean and clear.

Why not C #? An experience. I worked with C # a little over a year, but this is not natural. VB is.
