Vim Undo Team (one with capital U)

I do not understand how the undo line command works.

The documentation states Undo all latest changes on one line.

what is the definition all latest changeshere.

One of the remarks that I noticed is that sometimes U cancels all entries after the very first entry in a row. But this is consistent. For example, when I open a new file, edit the first line, writing several times, the command Ucancels each change.

I was unable to find any specific of my Google searches.
