Chrome takes a quick time, but OS X says it is built-in. How do I play videos in chrome?

Thus, in our application, after downloading it, a preview of the video is displayed. On my computer, however, I get a thumbnail that says "the plugin is missing", and upon further verification it says that you need to install the quicktime plugin.

However, the link provided by Chrome to install the plugin leads to a page on the Apple website that says "QuickTime plugins no longer need to be installed."

Some information:

  • Video Extension: .mov
  • Codec: H.264, AAC (what could be here, what is being said)
  • Chrome version: version 39.0.2171.71 (64-bit)
  • OSX Mavericks

How can I make videos on my machine and also make sure they are displayed in the production environment?

Google Chrome has removed support for plugins such as Quicktime. Most likely you are also using Chrome 64bit. Quicktime plugin was only for 32-bit.

HTML5 supports video out of the box, so IE, Firefox, and Chrome developers no longer use such plugins.
