XP: Large virtual memory and normal memory usage in task manager

What does the large VM page size and normal memory usage numbers from the task manager for the application mean? Do they mean that the application does not work well in terms of memory usage?

We have an application that some users claim that their computers work more slowly.

We see that the user also has other heavy applications. But when we see their task manager data, we understand that the “Memory Usage” column in the Mgr task is normal for our application, but the size of the virtual machine is quite high compared to others (including heavy applications).

For instance,

Appendix X (large and moderately slow application) - Actual use (500 MB) - VM use (600 MB)

Our application (application of normal size and very slow) - Actual use (200 MB) - Virtual machine size (900 MB) <==== Is this a sign of a leak in our application?

Can someone shed more light on me?
