Can I use an Activity instead of an ActionbarActivity without an Actionbar in Appcompat-v7?

I want to use material design under the Android version under Lolipop.

I know,

  • I have to use AppTheme: Appcompat-v7
  • To use Actionbar with Appcompat-v7, I have to extend ActionbarActivity

But I don’t want to use ActionbarActivity, due to a rather different activity, and it just looks inflexible for me, and it makes me nervous to use ActionbarActivity. It looks like an Activity class for an Actionbar.

So, I am thinking of using a toolbar (separately) instead of an Actionbar. And it seems that when I do not use the Actionbar, you also do not need to use the ActionbarActivity.

Finally, I found the solution that is used below.

  • AppTheme: Appcompat-v7 21
  • Toolbar (instead of the action bar)
  • Action (instead of ActionbarActivity)

Do you think this is right? or does it just make no sense?

I can’t understand why it is impossible to use ActionBarActivity, because ActionBarActivity comes from Activity

, ActionBarActivity, , .., ActionBar.

, , , , ActionBar , , , - Activity ActivityBar Activity.
