Pyjnius "Class not found" when importing jar file

I am trying to make pyjnius work with a jar file that I created from a java application, but I keep getting the "Class not found" error:

of course i checked:

jar tf myapp-web.jar

and com / myapp / webapp / server / helpers / licensee / CalculationHelper.class is there

I also tried setting the classpath as follows:

import jnius_config
jnius_config.set_classpath('.', '~/workspace/myapp-Tools/Admin/Console/couchdb/')
#import jnius
from jnius import autoclass

But it gave me the same result. I am working on virtualenv btw. I tried all the approaches that I could find on the Internet, but it just doesn't work. I had to manually install pyjnius because using pip got me the old version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit : tried this with a jar not created by me and I see another error

, , , Windows, Java 8. Ubuntu, , Java 7 "sudo apt-get install default-jdk",.

So pyjnius was not able to import Java 8 files into my Java 7 Ubuntu installation. It is strange that he throws an exception "Class not found", and not something more descriptive. Changing the target output to 1.7 fixed my problem.
