Error: link to `cc` failed: exit code: 1

I have a single .rs file. When I compile it with rustc test1.rs, I get an error message:

I saw some topic related to this, but none of them helped me solve the problem.

From your command, the rustc test1.rscompiler reports what the name of the executable file should be test1. The component tries to open this file so that it can write the executable file, but did not execute with errno=21whose lower case version is "Is the directory".

This indicates that you have a directory in the working directory with a name test1that causes a conflict.
