You can simply use ConcurrentLinkedQueueinstead Buffer, as it is also modified:

The fastest option, since this queue is based on CAS operations, so the locks are there (compared to SynchronizedBuffer). Another option is to synchronize operations directly:

nodes: Array[scala.collection.mutable.Buffer[Int]] = Array(ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer(), ArrayBuffer())

You can also use java Collections.synchronizedList(...)in combination withscala.collection.JavaConverters.asScala
