Unexpected SERVICE_START_PENDING status in response to START control

When I try to restart an existing Windows service using nssm, I accidentally receive the following message, which is written to the output of the error / error log. Any ideas on how to fix it? Ideally, take it as a valid answer.

I believe this problem was caused by the service itself.

It is very likely that the service has an error, freeze, crash, or too much time to stop properly. Which raise the question when they try to run it.
