However, when I run CenOS on a VMware workstation, I still get the following error:

This virtual machine is configured for 64-bit guest operating systems. However, a 64-bit operation is not possible.

This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.

Intel VT-x can be disabled if it is disabled in BIOS / Firmware Settings or the host was not involved with changing this setting.

(1) Make sure that the BIOS / firmware settings allow you to use Intel VT-x and disable "reliable execution".
