JVM EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION failed (0xc0000005)

Question

I have had problems with jvm crash lately. It originally started when I started Windows 8.1, but the other day I did a new installation of Windows 7 and the problem persisted. I have JDK and JRE installed, and they were installed in that order. Version 8.0.310.13.

This basically happens randomly at runtime and happens for two completely different programs. One of them is Eclipse Luna 4.4.1, and the other is JAR.
